Sankofa Twi — Terms & Conditions

1. ABOUT THESE TERMS
These Terms & Conditions form a binding agreement between you and Lourette Osei Bonsu, NIE Y0153486K, with registered address at Carrer de Maignon 34, 08024 Barcelona, Spain ("we", "us", "Sankofa Twi"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. ELIGIBILITY
You must be at least 14 years old (the minimum digital-consent age in Spain) to use the app. If you are under the age of majority, you confirm you have your parent's or guardian's permission. You must provide accurate registration information.
3. LICENCE TO USE
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the app on devices you own or control, solely for your own non-commercial language learning. This licence does not transfer any ownership; all rights not expressly granted are reserved.
4. YOUR ACCOUNT
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Tell us promptly at sankofa@aparato.ai if you suspect unauthorised use. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
5. SUBSCRIPTIONS, FREE TRIAL & BILLING
• Premium is offered as a monthly or annual subscription, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
• Prices are shown in your region's currency; you are charged in your app-store currency. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
• Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings. Access continues until the end of the paid period. Trials cancelled before they end are not charged.
• Refunds are handled by the relevant app store under its policies.
• Right of withdrawal: digital content/services begin immediately with your consent; where required by EU consumer law you keep any applicable statutory withdrawal rights.
6. VIRTUAL ITEMS ("PEDIS"), KEYS & COSMETICS
In-app currency and items have no real-world monetary value, are non-transferable and non-refundable, and may change or expire. They are a limited licence to use within the app, not your property, and cannot be exchanged for cash.
7. ACCEPTABLE USE & PROHIBITED CONDUCT
You agree NOT to: send spam or unsolicited messages; harass, bully, threaten, impersonate, or send abusive, hateful, or sexually explicit content to other users; collect or misuse other users' personal data; cheat, manipulate leaderboards, use bots, or exploit bugs; reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or extract the app's source code, datasets, or models (except where such restriction is prohibited by law); copy, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the app or its content; or disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the service. We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.
8. USER CONTENT & SOCIAL FEATURES
If the app lets you submit content or interact with others, you remain responsible for what you share and you grant us a limited licence to host and display it as needed to operate the feature. We may moderate, remove, or restrict content and report unlawful content where required. Treat other learners with respect.
9. AI FEATURES & EDUCATIONAL OUTPUT DISCLAIMER
The app uses AI (GhanaNLP / Khaya) to translate text and generate Twi audio. AI-generated output is provided for learning purposes only, is produced automatically, and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. Do not rely on it for professional, legal, medical, safety-critical, or official translation. You are responsible for how you use AI output. We make no warranty as to the accuracy of AI results.
10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The app, its design, code, sound, Adinkra artwork, lesson content, and trademarks are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. You may not use them except as permitted by these terms.
11. DISCLAIMERS & LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
• The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the maximum extent permitted by law.
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill.
• Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it cannot be excluded under Spanish or EU law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.
• Where our liability can be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
12. TERMINATION
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time (Profile → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms or to comply with law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
13. CHANGES TO THE SERVICE AND TERMS
We may update the app and these terms. For material changes we will update the "Last updated" date and provide notice in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
14. GOVERNING LAW & JURISDICTION
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the city of Barcelona, Spain — except that, if you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your domicile as permitted by EU consumer law. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
